The First Week of Vaping

Green Smoke Battery and Charger

I quit smoking way back in 2010 by using an old-school “cigalike” vape made by Green Smoke (see the image above). This was a top-of-the-line device in those days and I paid a lot of money for it – something like $120 for a single-battery kit! Today, you can get a similar type of cigalike for less than $20. It’s crazy how far we’ve come 🙂

I still remember thinking back then that the price I paid was outrageous, but now I remind myself that I wouldn’t be where I am today if I would have never invested in it. I quit smoking thanks to that little e-cig and I’ve probably added decades to my life. $120 has been more than worth it.

But I want to talk about some of the early observations I made in my first week, which are probably questions that you might have too.

Electronic Cigarette Cig-a-Like Battery Life Observations

I haven’t smoked since August (7 months ago), but I wrote this post when I first started using an electronic cigarette and I forgot to publish it. I thought it would be good information for anyone who is using a “cig-a-like” e-cig, so I decided I’d put the post up today.

I fully charged my electronic cigarette 5 days ago and haven’t used it until today. Since I was drinking with some friends, I knew I would need my e-cig to keep me from smoking a regular cigarette. Sadly that didn’t happen, because the battery only lasted for about three smoke sessions. I was also sharing with friends so it quickly drained what was left of the battery.

I’ve smoked my electric cigarette several times on a full charge and I haven’t had any problems at all so far. I’ve been able to smoke to my heart’s content. But it seems that leaving the cartridge attached to the battery for a week, even on a full charge and without smoking it at all, drains the battery.

So just a little tip for you – if you want to conserve the battery, detach it from the cartridge after every smoke. This is especially important if you only have one battery and the electronic cigarette is the only barrier stopping you from smoking a real cigarette.

Complete Review of the South Beach Smoke Electronic Cigarette

Just recently, I’ve come across South Beach Smoke electronic cigarettes and I decided to order their deluxe kit to give them a try. My first electronic cigarette was from Green Smoke, and I love it, but I’ve noticed that many of my friends are hesitant to buy it because of the price ($115 for a kit). After looking at South Beach Smoke, their products seem to be just as high quality as Green Smoke, but available at a much more affordable price.

For example, you can get the deluxe electronic starter kit for only $49.99 with cartridges, two batteries, and a charger. I paid $115 for the starter kit at Green Smoke which only came with 1 battery. Quite a difference, especially for people who just can’t afford the more expensive kits.

So I ordered the deluxe kit from South Beach Smoke and I have to say that so far, I’m very impressed. I really wanted to try out all their flavors, so I ordered the assortment pack, but was a little disappointed that the only strength available for it is ultra light * (update below). That’s OK though. One other thing I don’t really care for is that you have to sign up for automatic shipping of new cartridges when you order. It’s no big deal because you can cancel anytime, but I’d still like to have the option to choose not to sign up.

Ok, so first some things I’d love to see in the future when ordering; PayPal payments and lower shipping rates. I’d rather wait 7-10 days than pay $10 shipping.

I just got my kit today, as you can see in the image at the top of this post. The packaging is quite impressive. The picture below shows everything that came in the package.

Both batteries were charged so I was able to test everything right out of the package. I tested both batteries with each of the five cartridges. There are 5 flavors to choose from; tobacco, menthol, vanilla, chocolate, and cherry. Each cartridge is estimated to last as long or slightly longer than one pack of cigarettes.

Just like the Green Smoke cartridges, each of the South Beach Smoke cartridges have their own distinct taste, probably from whatever type of flavoring they use, but it’s not bad by any means. I’ll be honest, I don’t care much for the vanilla or tobacco flavors. I don’t know which is which, but one of them tastes like mustard to me. I think it’s the vanilla one. The other three flavors taste good though. My favorite is definitely cherry.

After testing all of the cartridges, I have to say that I think the cartridges need a little work. They don’t smoke so well without taking a huge drag and even then I still couldn’t get a whole lot of vapor. * (update below)

I really like the batteries. They are high quality and have enough power for my needs. The South Beach Smokes have a super realistic feel too, which I like a lot. All in all, I really like this electronic cigarette. They feel good, taste good and are very affordable. You can check out their website at SouthBeachSmoke.com if you want to learn more.

* Update: The low amount of vapor I got from the South Beach Smoke was because I was sent the ultra low cartridges. From what I understand, the full flavor cartridges smoke just as well as the Green Smokes. I’d also like to add that since I’ve ordered, South Beach Smoke just recently added the ability to choose any flavor and any strength when ordering the Deluxe kit.
