Vaporesso Xiron Pod Device Review

The Vaporesso Xiron was sent to me for review from Vaporesso. This is a new pod device that uses Vaporesso’s excellent GTX mesh coils.

Design

The design of the Xiron is nice. The entire body is made of zinc alloy and has a textured coating on it. The side grips of the Xiron have a sort of scale design and then the metal frame in the middle looks sort of like an “X”.

The OLED screen is 0.69″ and shows the Ohm rating of your coil, the time duration of your hit, the wattage you’ve set, the battery charge level, the mode, and if you have the lock on.

The size of the device is 3.6 inches tall, 1.8 inches wide, and 1.09 inches thick.

Features

The Xiron has a maximum power out of 50 watts. On the front of the Xiron is the power button, an OLED screen, the plus and minus button, and a USB-C port.

Five clicks turn it on and off. The device fires using the power button.

To lock and unlock the buttons, you’ll need to press the firing button three times fast.

There are several modes to choose from:

The Pod

The pod holds 5.5ml of e-liquid and has a removable 510 mouthpiece.

The pod is top-fill, which is nice because you don’t need to take the pod out to fill it. Just lift up the seal and fill it up. It’s very convenient.

At the bottom of the pod is that it’s clear at the bottom so that you can see how much liquid is inside of it while it’s connected to the device.

At the bottom of the pod is where the replaceable coils are inserted. The coils are press-fit and sit tight.

Coils

The Xiron comes with two coils from the GTX line; the 0.3Ohm and 0.8Ohm coil.

0.8 Ohm Mesh

This coil is rated for 12.20 watts. The flavor is okay at 12 watts but not very strong. At 20 watts the flavor gets a little better but not much and just slightly warmer.

0.3 Ohm Mesh

This coil is rated for 32-45 watts. The flavor here is a lot better than the 0.8-ohm coil. At 30 watts, the flavor is good and you’ll get much bigger hits. At 45 watts, the flavor only gets slightly better but the hits are even bigger. This one is definitely designed for big hits and low nicotine. It performs pretty well.

There are three other coils that you can buy for this kit such as a 0.6 Ohm mesh (20-30w), a 1.2 Ohm mesh (7-11 w), and a 1.2 Ohm regular coil (8.12 watts). There’s also the GTX RBA head if you want to build your own coils.

Airflow

On the back of the device, on the opposite side of the firing button is the adjustable airflow control dial. The dial moves nice and smoothly and gives you plenty of airflow when it’s wide open.

You get a fairly restricted lung hit with the airflow wide open. I think this should have opened just a little bit more. And if you close it down all the way, I don’t think it’s restricted enough. And if you take a strong hit, it starts to gurgle, even wide. So this seems really more designed for restricted lung draws and high nicotine.

Battery

The battery inside of the Xiron is an internal 1500mAh battery. It charges using a USB-C cable at 2A.

There are several safety features:

Final Thoughts

The device is nice. It’s more of pod mod than your typical pod device. The GTX coils work well and the they work perfectly in any range that the Xiron can fire. I would have liked for the flavor to be a little better but it’s not bad. The airflow options work great too. The only issue I have with the airflow is that it’s easy to accidentally cover the airflow intake with your finger while you’re firing it. The Vapely TGO has pretty much the same airflow in the same place and it had that problem too. It’s not a big deal, just something that you’ll be reminded of occasionally. But overall, it’s a great pod device.
