NEXA sent the NEXA Ultra II to me for review. This is a disposable vape with an estimated 50k puffs, a huge colorful wraparound screen, and a see-through liquid tank.
Design
The body is sleek and compact, so it fits nicely in my pocket. I really like the rounded curves of the body, which also make it comfortable to hold.
The Ultra II has a slim mouthpiece at the top.
One side of the body has a large see-through tank, so you can see how much liquid you have left, which I love. It’s awesome being able to see the liquid instead of relying on a sensor system.
But there is one drawback to this, which NEXA actually points out on the box – “don’t carry it on flights.” And I’m guessing it might be because airlines can clearly see the liquid, so they might count that toward their 3.4-ounce limit for liquids.
The rest of the body is essentially an enormous screen that wraps around it. It’s extremely colorful with a ton going on. It looks like most of the graphics are designed to look like electrical signals moving through a computer chip.
The screen can be a little overwhelming, but you can turn off all the extra graphics and leave only the front panel on, showing the mode and battery percentage. You can go into “Dark Mode” by holding the mode button for three seconds.
Prepping the Device for Use
When you take the Ultra II out of the box, it comes in a wrapper with instructions for use. It’s pretty simple, really: take the sticky strip off of the tank, push the tank in – it clicks into place, and isn’t meant to come back out – then pick your mode, adjust the airflow, and vape.
Features and Modes
There’s a single button on one side of the Ultra II. This lets you switch between two modes: Turbo and Normal.
I don’t know how much power each mode pushes, but Normal mode gives you an estimated life of 50k puffs, and Turbo mode gives you 30k puffs.
As far as performance goes, I like both modes. Normal mode gives me a satisfying hit with plenty of flavor and vapor. It’s a fairly cool and smooth hit. Turbo mode kicks it up a bit with a noticeably stronger hit, more flavor, and a stronger throat hit, which I like. I personally like the extra throat hit, so I’ve been sticking with Turbo mode.
Airflow
There’s an airflow slider on the bottom of the Ultra II. With the airflow wide open, I get an airy, loose mouth-to-lung hit. And you can pretty much close it down as much as you want, even closing it off completely, which means you can get as tight a draw as you want.
I like a tight draw, and right in the middle feels perfect for me.
Battery
The Ultra II has a 900mAh battery, so plenty of battery life. It charges with USB-C from the bottom and charges fast.
Liquid and Flavors
These come in 50mg nicotine only, at least as far as I can tell.
I believe the device has a total of 20ml of liquid if I’m reading their site correctly. They say there’s 4ml of Storage Cotton + a 16ml Crystal Tank, so I’m assuming that means 20ml in all.
NEXA sent me three flavors to try, but they have 15 flavors in the full line:
- Watermelon Ice
- Strawberry Mango
- Strawberry Ice
- Strawberry
- Strawberry Banana
- Sour Apple Ice
- Miami Mint
- White Gummy
- Georgia Peach Ice
- Fcuking Fab
- BP
- Blueberry Watermelon
- Blue Razz Ice
- Black Cherry
- Lemon Frozen
So let’s go over the flavors they sent me:
White Gummy
This is a nice white gummy with a hint of ice. It’s sweet and really does taste like white gummy. It’s a smooth hit, too.
Lemon Frozen
I love this flavor. It’s just like a frozen lemon Italian ice dessert. It’s very good. This one has menthol or koolada, like most flavors in this line probably do, but it’s more than just ice added to a vape. It’s a necessity to make this flavor work and actually taste like Italian ice. This flavor is great.
Watermelon Ice
This has a sweet, soothing watermelon flavor with a strong ice hit. The ice isn’t extremely strong, but definitely noticeable..
Final Thoughts
So that’s it for the Ultra II. I think they’re great. They’re small and comfortable to hold, the flavor is excellent, the hits are great – especially in Turbo mode – and they look nice. The screen is very bright and colorful, but if you don’t like it, you can switch to Dark Mode, which I’m glad they included. The airflow is great, too.
There’s not a whole lot to complain about. The only thing I would have liked is for the mode button to also turn the device off. Not a big deal, but it would have been a nice feature.
