The Yocan Kodo line has established itself as a popular choice within the cartridge-based vape community, being known as a truly great product.
In fact, my review of the original Yocan Kodo continues to be one of my most popular reviewed devices, even though it came out way back in 2019. That might not seem that long ago, but in the vape world, it’s eons. Most products lose traction within a year of their release, so that really says something.
The Yocan Kodo Plus is a big improvement to the Yocan Kodo line of 510 threaded battery devices. It retains the classic compact form factor, but introduces significant upgrades.
This device is designed to be small and portable – a “small but mighty device that’s perfect for on-the-go vaping”.
Design and Build Quality
One of the standout features of the Kodo Plus is its premium finish. The housing is constructed from solid Aluminium Alloy. This material provides a better, more premium feel than plastic and is still lightweight, ensuring the device won’t weigh you down while remaining durable.
The physical dimensions of the Kodo Plus are approximately 18*25*65mm. Measuring just a little over two inches, it is easy to slide inside your pocket or discreetly carry it in the palm of your hands.
Aesthetics and Colors: The device is available in various colors. I received three colors: purple, red, and green, but the other standard colors available include Black, Silver, Light Purple, and Teal. Special editions, like the Zodiac Edition, are available in Black, Silver, and Pink.
Portability Enhancements: For ease of carrying, the Kodo Plus features a lanyard loop or hanging hole, making it convenient for use during parties, music festivals, or on vacations.

Operation and Controls
The Kodo Plus uses a two-button operation system. The power button is placed at the top, and the voltage adjustment button is located below. Yocan designed this two-button approach to potentially prolong the lifespan of the buttons and eliminate confusion compared to single-button box mods. It’s a small thing, but far more user-friendly and intuitive than single-button devices.
- Power On/Off: Click the top power button five times.
- Adjust Voltage: Click the bottom button one time. This provides one-click voltage adjustment.
- Preheat Mode: Click the top power button two times. The preheat mode runs at 2 volts for 10 seconds.
Voltage Settings and Vaping Personalization
The device features five pre-set voltage settings, providing precise control for a personalized vaping experience. The available voltages are 2.4V, 2.8V, 3.2V, 3.6V, and 4.0V.
These settings allow users to tailor their experience to their preferences or the type of concentrate they’re vaping:
- Lowest Setting (2.4V): Ideal for heating oils to release natural flavonoids and aromatic properties, suitable for relaxation.
- Middle Settings (2.8V to 3.6V): Offer a balanced mix of flavor, aroma, and potency. These levels are recommended for those seeking a balance between relaxation and deep thought, and are also ideal for reaping therapeutic or medicinal benefits.
- Highest Setting (4.0V): Designed to deliver a stronger hit, suitable for quicker delivery and/or warmer hits.
Cartridge Compatibility and Connectivity
The Yocan Kodo Plus has a standard 510-threaded connection, which makes it compatible with most cartridges on the market today.
The 510-thread ensures a secure connection between the coil and the base, unlike some popular magnetically connected systems (including several options from Yocan – I’m not trying to call out any competitors here!). This universal design makes the Kodo Plus flexible, catering to both beginners using commercial pre-filled cartridges and veterans using refillable carts. The device is compatible with carts having a coil resistance greater than 0.8 Ohm.
Additional Smart Features
Beyond core functions, the Kodo Plus includes several smart features designed for safety and convenience:
- Preheat Function: The 10-second preheat (2.0V) is crucial when vaping in colder climates, where oils might harden. Pre-heating the coil ensures the oils are ready for vaporization the moment the power button is pressed. It helps ensure a smooth and consistent hit every time. But if you’re not in colder temps, you might not need this at all. I never use it myself.
- 15-Second Safety Cut-off: This feature automatically shuts off the device if the power button is held for more than 15 seconds. This is a key safety measure to prevent accidental firing if the device is bumped in a pocket.
- USBC Charging: The modern USB Type-C charging port located on the bottom allows for efficient charging, with a full charge achieved in 1.2 hours.
Conclusion
The Yocan Kodo Plus is an excellent device that successfully builds upon its popular predecessor. And it’s EXTREMELY small. I think that’s what people like most about the Kodo series – it’s discreet.
It also provides simplicity – just screw it on, turn it on, and enjoy – while offering advanced personalization through its five voltage settings. Its combination of a powerful 900mAh battery, durable aluminum alloy build, and streamlined two-button operation makes it an excellent choice for anyone seeking a high-quality, ultra-portable 510-threaded battery.
