The Jmate PCC Portable Charging Case for the Juul

The Jmate was sent to me for review from Jmate.net. This is a charging case for the Juul! I think this is a pretty unique product that’s actually really useful for Juul owners.

The Jmate Design

One of the appealing aspects of the Juul is its sleek design, so obviously you’d want a sleek case to go with it. I feel like the Jmate case is attractive and fitting of the Juul.

Another one of the appealing features of the Juul is the small and portable size. Obviously, this case adds a lot of bulk to the Juul, but the size is actually still really portable, mainly because of how thin it is. It’s 56mm wide, 100mm tall, and 12mm thin. It slides right into your pocket or bag and stays mostly unnoticeable.

Using the Jmate

To use the Jmate, you need to take the pod off of your Juul and slide the Juul into the charging slot. I’ve found that sometimes the connection isn’t so great unless you seal the top of the Jmate. That seal helps push the Juul into the charging pins, so if you have problems with charging, make sure it’s fully sealed.

The 1200 mAh battery in the Jmate holds enough charge to be able to fully charge a Juul four times. That’s based on the Juul’s reported battery size as being about 200-250 mAh. That seems to be accurate from my own use. And it takes about 40 minutes to fully charge a Juul in the Jmate.

The Jmate has two storage slots for pods, but since you can’t charge the Juul with a pod attached, you’ll need to reserve one of those slots for the pod that you’re currently using. So it really holds one extra pod, but that should be more than enough for most people.

Charging the Jmate

To charge the Jmate, you plug it into a micro-USB charging cable. It take about 90 minutes to come to a complete charge if the battery is dead. You’ll see the white LED light on the bottom flashing while it’s charged and it will stay solid when it’s done charging.

Safety Features

And since it’s a battery charger, obviously you want some protections built in. So the Jmate has:

  • Short-circuit protection
  • Input over-voltage protection
  • Automatic charger protection
  • Overcharge / Over-Discharge protection

Final Thoughts

It’s a simple idea, but it’s actually really useful. I use my Juul most days of the week or at least I carry it with me most days, so I’ve been using the Jmate every day for about a month now. I love knowing that my Juul is always charged. I also like having a safe place to store an extra pod, rather than having a tiny pod rolling around and getting lost in my backpack.

My only complaints are that I wish the connection between the Jmate and Juul pins were more solid and that I wish the charging slot was long enough to hold the Juul with the pod still attached. Oh and it would be nice to have colors that match the colors of the different colored Juul’s on the market.

You can get it from JMate.net right now for $29.99, but full price is normally $39.99 according to their site, so the current price might go up.
