Wotofo Skuare Design
A lot is going on here with the design of the Skuare. I think they are done really well. They look like an actual mod, but nope, you throw these away. They look so nice that I don’t even want to throw them away.
You have a see-through polycarbonate box that lets you see the internals and the battery. On the outside is a lot of branding, so maybe you won’t like that, but I don’t mind. I think it adds to the look. The top has a removable mouthpiece. The top and bottom have a carbon fiber textured look. And all of the boxes are super colorful. Wotofo says they were going for a cyberpunk look, and I would agree with that for sure. This reminds me of the retro-electro synthwave genre. It’s really cool
There are six colors available, but you need to buy certain flavors to get certain colors. I won’t go through all of those, but the colors you can get are Red, Orange, Yellow, Purple, Lime Green, and Dark Green.
These are pretty decently sized too. It’s 94.2mm tall (3.7 inches), 45mm (1.7 inches) wide, 22mm (0.8 inches) thick
How the Skuare Performs
The coil inside the Skuare is a 1.2 Ohm coil, which is a clear sign that it’s made for low-wattage, high-nicotine vaping. The coil is a nexMesh mesh coil, so you’ll get great flavor from the mesh and great performance from Wotofo’s nexMesh line. These are non-replaceable coils and non-refillable tanks, so when it’s gone, you throw these away.
The mouthpiece is a flat oval tip that is comfortable to use and the Airflow is a tight mouth-to-lung draw.
The Wotofo Skuare Battery and Charging Features
The Skuare requires a removable 18650 battery. You pull the panel off just like a regular mod and put a battery in. I’m pretty sure this is the first time something like this has ever been done. You can order the Skuare either with a battery included or without. I think that’s a great idea.
They sent me one device with a battery. It’s a rewrapped 1200mAh 3.7v battery from a company called Gokuraku, which I’ve never heard of, so who knows the quality of it, but it works for these disposables.
You can also charge it through the USB-C port on the side.
One thing I would have liked for them to include is a battery ribbon so that it would be easier to get the battery out. To get it out, you need to slam the device in your hand to pop it out.
When Wotofo first reached out to me about these, my first thought was, “why would anyone want a disposable device that takes a 18650 battery?” But then I got to thinking that one of the things a lot of us vapers complain about is how much waste is created with disposables, especially with batteries. And for that reason, I LOVE this idea. If every disposable required an external battery, just think how much environmental waste we could prevent.
There are a few safety features here too:
- Reverse Battery Protection
- Short-Circuit Protection
- Over-Charging Protection
The Flavors in the Wotofo Skuare Line
There are a lot of flavors to pick from:
- Strawberry Ice Cream
- Watermelon Ice Cream
- Gummy Bear
- Guava Kiwi Passion Fruit
- Watermelon Cantaloupe Honeydew
- Mango Ice Cream
- Blueberry Raspberry Ice
- Grape Ice
- Sour Apple
- Energy Cherry
- Strawberry Rum
- Peach Ice Cream
Of those flavors, they sent me five:
Blueberry Raspberry Ice – This one is a sweet fruity blueberry and raspberry mix with a strong ice finish.
Grape Ice – This is a sweet but very light grape. Of all of the flavors, this one has the least amount of flavor. It’s good, but I would have liked the flavor to be stronger.
Mango Ice Cream – This definitely has a mango ice cream flavor. It’s like a sweet mango with a milky creaminess. It’s really good.
Strawberry Ice Cream – This is a really good strawberry ice cream flavor. It’s almost like strawberry milk ice cream. It’s really sweet and delicious.
Watermelon Ice Cream – This is like a candy-ish watermelon flavor with strong ice. It has a little bit of ice creaminess to it like the other ice cream flavors, but it’s much lighter. Still good, though.
Wotofo says that they designed the liquid in the Skuare to have a perfect throat hit and dense vapor. I would agree with both of those things. It hits nice.
Final Thoughts
Everything about these devices makes them seem like a regular mod. It doesn’t feel like a disposable. And that makes it really hard to throw away. I want to keep at least one color of each. And I probably will. I might experiment with taking them apart too.
They perform great, the flavors are excellent, there are 6000 puffs in each device, they look really cool, they have a good size, charge with USB-C, and they take replaceable 18650 batteries. Everything about the Skuare 6000’s is awesome. I really love these things.
I don’t know if something like this will take off, but I sure hope so. I love that you can buy these with an 18650 battery installed too. Then people who don’t normally use 18650’s have a battery that they can use in future devices. And good for Wotofo for doing something so different. That’s one of my favorite things about them. They do really interesting and new things – risks that most companies won’t.
