Flavor pairing is useful in a lot of ways for vapers. You can use pairing information to:
- Pair e-juices with food and desserts
- Pair e-juices with drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
- Pair concentrated flavorings to make DIY e-juice
DIY Flavor Pairing Guide from MIST
MIST developed this great DIY e-liquid flavour pairing guide along with some really nice graphics showing how different flavors work well together. What’s particular special about this is that they curated their data from various experts online, but also paid close attention to how the vape community pairs flavors as well.
Flavor Pairing Charts for Baking
A great flavor combination chart was created by Pastry Chef Kristi Barber of BakeItRight.com. She is a professional chef and has worked in the industry for more than 25 years, so she clearly knows what she’s doing. Her chart is specifically for baking purposes, but it’s easy to see how this can be used for DIY e-juice.
Bake It Right mentions that desserts should only have one or two predominant flavors, with only small amounts of additional flavors. That line of thought is likely to translate to DIY e-juice as well. Too many flavors in high concentrations can lead to the muting of flavors, so keep that in mind.
Look at how many pairings are possible in this chart.
Let’s take Apple for example:
- 14 fruit pairings
- 12 spice pairings
- 9 Liquor pairings
- 15 miscellaneous pairings
That’s 50 potential two-flavor mixes right there, and as you get more advanced, you can make even more complex mixes.
