Design

The SMOK RPM C is a nice-looking device, although, in the hand, it feels a little low-budget. But that’s because this is a very low-cost device at only $15.99. So you don’t get top-of-the-line materials with the RPM C, but it’s priced accordingly. I think for the cost, this is actually really good.

The size and form-factor is nice. It’s a very portable device. The colors are great too. I like how the colors blend together on the model they sent me.

It has a big easy-to-find button, so I like that. The button feels a little squishier and wobbly than I would like, but again, I think this is due to the price of this device. It works fine.

Below the firing button is a 0.69” screen, which shows your battery life, wattage setting, resistance rating, and puff counter.

And below that are the up and down wattage buttons. These buttons feel good.

The size is 28.5mm wide (1.1”) x 25.5mm thick (1”) x 107.5mm tall (4.2”). And it weighs 70.7 grams.

Features and Performance

Press the firing button five times fast to turn the RPM C off and on.

And to take a hit, you can press the firing button or use auto-draw. You can use both at any time without having to change any settings.

The device has a max of 50 watts, and you can easily scroll up or down with the wattage buttons below the screen. If you hold those buttons, you can also scroll faster.

Airflow

There are two airflow intake slots, one on each side of the device. You can adjust these with the slider on the back of the device. SMOK calls this slider a “stepless” airflow control, which is exactly what it is but I’ve always called it a slider switch. So as the name implies, there are no stepped settings here. You can slide it in the tiniest of increments to find the airflow you like. These are my favorite types of adjustable airflows. You can see that when you move the slider here, there are little plastic tabs that slide over the airflow holes.

The Pod

The is a big square-ish pod that holds 4mls of liquid. That’s a pretty good amount of liquid considering that the standard in most other devices is 2mls. You won’t need to fill this up as often, so that’s nice.

The pod has a slide-to-open top-fill feature which I also like. I like top-fill in general because it makes it easy to fill without taking the pod out of the device and removing the seals. But I don’t see slide-to-open tops very often. It’s way better than pop-off tops because you don’t risk losing the cap and it’s just easier to do.

Coils

SMOK includes two RPM 2 coils in the box. One is a 0.3 Ohm coil, the other is a 0.6 Ohm coil, and both use mesh coils.

  • 0.3 Ohm – This coil is rated for 25-35 watts
  • 0.6 Ohm – This coil is rated for 12-25 watts

And the pod can use any of the coils in the RPM 2 line, which includes a total of five coils in all. So you have the ones I just mentioned, but also a 0.25 Ohm, a 0.23 Ohm, and a 0.16 Ohm coil head, all of which you’d use for bigger direct lung hits.

Battery

The SMOK RPM has a huge 1650mAh battery. That’s big. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that much battery capacity in a device this size. So that’s pretty impressive. You can probably get through several days of vaping without charging this, even if you use it a lot.

The device charges using a Type-C USB cable.

You also have several protections:

  • 8-second cutoff
  • Low voltage protection
  • Puff monitoring system (your puff counter)
  • Atomizer recognition
  • Short circuit protection
  • Over-heating protection
  • Lithium Ion protection

Final Thoughts

The SMOK RPM C is a great portable kit with a lot of power. The adjustable airflow is great, the RPM C has a huge battery capacity, the pods hold a lot of liquid, and the flavor from the coils is excellent. This isn’t a high-end device, and SMOK isn’t trying to convince anyone that it is. This is designed for the budget-minded. And for that consumer, it’s excellent. For the same cost as many disposables on the market, you can get a reusable, rechargeable 50-watt pod kit from SMOK. I think that’s a great deal.
