The Yocan Gold Kodo Lion Kit was sent to me for review from Yocan Gold.
You can buy the Kodo Animal Series device independently, but Yocan also partnered with Curevana to create this kit with the Lion Kodo model and a pre-filled infused tank. They sell these kits through the YocanGold.com and YocanOnline.com websites.
The Yocan Kodo Animal Series Device
I reviewed the Kodo Animal device in another review (which you can read here), but to give you a high-level overview, it’s a tiny 510 device designed for discrete vaping and portability.
It has a firing button, three voltage levels (2.5v, 3.0v, and 3.5v), a 10-second preheat mode that runs at 1.8 volts, a big 900mAh battery, and it charges using USB-C.
I think the device is great, and it’s a perfect pair with the Curevana tank that comes in this kit.
About Curevana and THCA Liquid Diamonds
Curevana manufactures high-quality hemp-derived products produced by PHD chemists, lab-tested, and made in the USA.
This collab kit has a large 3gm tank filled with pure THC-A made from THCA liquid diamonds. If you’re unfamiliar with liquid diamonds, it’s a form of processing THCA so that large amounts of pressure turn high concentrations of THCA into solid structures, or “diamonds.”
THCA is a predecessor to THC. It’s a raw version of THC, but not yet THC, and has a slightly different molecular structure. Once it’s heated and exposed to light, it converts into Delta-9 THC but has milder and shorter-lasting psychoactive effects.
The Tank
The tank is much higher quality than the cartridges I typically see. This 16mm diameter tank is made of brass and glass and uses a mesh ceramic coil for quick heating and pure flavor. It has a 1.4 Ohm resistance and has an adjustable airflow.
The airflow is excellent. With the airflow holes fully open, you can get a nice, comfortable lung draw. If you like tight hits, you can also close the airflow down as tight as you want.
Leaking
One of the tanks I received had leaked during shipping. It didn’t spill out of the silicone cap that covers the airflow holes, which is good because that means the cover is doing what it should. But that silicone cover was a huge sticky mess when I pulled it off.
And this isn’t oil that you can clean with soap. It’s like tree sap. I had to use alcohol to clean the cover and the base of the tank. The oil also gunked up the airflow slider, and there’s no way to clean that. I was able to clean the slider a bit, but I can’t get it all out. So the slider on this tank doesn’t turn easily anymore.
Normally, you could throw away the silicone covers, but I’ve decided to keep the silicone covers because of my leaking issue. I haven’t had issues with leaking since opening the tank, so that might have just been a shipping problem, but it’s still something for you to consider.
Flavors
There are five flavors available:
- Watermelon Mimosa (Indica)
- Lemon Cherry Gelato (Hybrid)
- Durban Poison (Indica)
- Purple Push Pop (Sativa)
- Blue Walker (Sativa)
They sent me two flavors:
Purple Push Pop (Sativa)
I can’t really taste the flavors that this strain is known for – grape candy, sweet cherries and spicy black pepper – but it does have a sweetness to it and tastes like some excellent herb. The hit is super-smooth, but this stuff really makes me cough after the hit.
Lemon Cherry Gelato (Hybrid)
This strain is known for its lemon and sweet fruit flavor. I sort of get that here, but it’s light. Like Purple Push Pop, I mostly get the herb taste. It’s tasty though.
Final Thoughts
The Kodo Animal Series device is an excellent device. I’m a big fan of it. And I think the infused Curevana tanks are a great match with the device. The tanks are excellent, and the flavors are tasty. The concentrate quality also seems to be quite good.
You can learn more about these from the Yocan Gold website, which will lead you to the YocanOnline.com website to buy. Curevana also sells these kits on their site for $19.99, which is an amazing deal. That’s only $2 more than buying the device by itself, so that seems worth it to me.
