  • 5-40 watt adjustable wattage

In The Box

  • Suorin Air Mod device

Design

Suorin describes the Air Mod as cyberpunk, inspired by cyborgs. It looks high-tech with one side covered in a solid metal casing and the other side with see through shell that lets you see the internals. It’s a sleek look. Because of the glossy metal body, it’s definitely a finger-print magnet though.

On one side is a 0.96″ black and white screen that shows your battery life, wattage setting, puff counter, resistance of your coil, and puff timer. The screen isn’t very bright though so it would have been nice if it was brighter.

On the thin side of the device is a an airflow control switch, firing button, and two up and down adjustment buttons.

Then on the bottom is a USB-C charging port.

The device is slim, like everything else in Suorin’s Air line of devices. It’s nice because it fits flat in your pocket or bag so it’s nice to carry around. It’s 99.6mm tall, 42.6mm wide, 14.1mm thick, and it weighs about 90 grams.

There are lots of colors to pick from:

  • Clear Silver
  • Clear Blue
  • Clear Green
  • Clear Red
  • Gunmetal
  • Black
  • Sunglow Red
  • Rainbow

AI System

Suorin is claiming that this has an AI-Enhanced system. They say this because the device auto-detects the coil resistance of the pod you’re using and it maintains the perfect balance of output. I guess that’s AI at its most basic but I think it’s a reach. Although I do think it’s a good feature. This is basically Smart Mode that a lot of other devices are using these days.

Adjustable Airflow

There’s a little switch on the side that moves up and down. It moves smoothly with no stoppage so you can really fine-tune it.

All the way closed down you get a slightly loose tight draw hit so that’ll be good for those of you who want mouth-to-lung hits. And if you open it all the way up, you get restricted loose draw and that works good for lung draws.

Advanced Heating Tech

The Air Mod uses a heating technology designed to heat the surface areas of the coil evenly and more efficiently, while using lower temperature. So basically, you get a good hit every time and I would imagine possibly better battery life.

Features and Modes

Press the power button five times fast to turn the device off and on.

This device has both auto-draw and button-fire. Both are active all the time so you can use whichever mode you like. Both work well but auto-draw works so well that I stick with that. There are no delays or suction problems so I like the auto-draw a lot. The firing button is sort of in a weird spot though so you have to hold the device from the bottom to hit that button so that’s another reason I like the auto-draw better. It’s nice that you have both options though.

The Suorin Air Mod has adjustable wattage which you can change from 5 to 40 watts but you can’t go above the max of whatever coil you have installed. And I like that. There’s no risk of burning out the coil.

There are also a couple of button shortcuts

  • If you press the firing button and up button at the same time, you can reset the puff counter.
  • If you press both the up and down buttons, you can lock the adjustment buttons but you can still fire the device.

Pod and Replaceable Coils

The pod cartridge holds 3ml of liquid, or 2ml in the UK.

Unlike most of Suorin’s products, this uses replaceable coils, hence the “Mod” phrase in the name.

There are two coils available for this and both use mesh coils so they’re designed for good flavor.

0.6 Ohm Sub-Ohm Mesh Coil – This coil is rated for 25-32 watts. This coil is wider than the 0.8 Ohm coil so it’s better designed for a loose draw.

0.8 Ohm Sub-Ohm Mesh Coil – This coil is rated for 16-22 watts. This coil is designed for mouth-to-lung vaping.

Replacing the coils is easy. They plug right into the pod and seal in place. There are flat edges on the coil so just make sure you put those in the right place so that it seals correctly

Then just fill up the pod through the flap on the side.

Battery

The battery inside the Suorin Air Mod is a 1500mAh battery. I’d consider that a pretty big battery for a device of this size. It charges using USB-C so it’ll fast-charge in about 2 hours.

Final Thoughts

This is a great device from Suorin. They always put out great products but I love the “mod” features they’ve added here. It really gives you a lot more control of your vape experience. You can adjust the wattage, adjustable airflow, and it uses replaceable coils. And it’s cool that they include both coils in this kit. I like everything they show on the screen but I would have liked it to be a little brighter. I also like the large battery, and I like that it charges with USB-C. It’s really a nice setup.
