Design

It’s a sleek and shiny device. It has a bit of a strange look. It’s shiny and smooth at the top, and the rest of the device has a blurry brushed metal look. The two layers contrast so much that it almost looks like it has a sticker on it that needs to be peeled off. It’s not bad, just different. It all feels the same to the touch. You can’t feel that line of separation.

One side of the Levin has a USB-C port, and the other has a sliding airflow switch. The front of the device has a thin LED strip that lights up in a rainbow of colors when you take a hit. The light is really nice. It’s bright and looks clean and smooth.

Smoant says the body is made of space aluminum, which I’m led to believe is aerospace-grade aluminum. From what I’ve read, it’s the strongest form of aluminum. So the Levin should be really durable.

It’s about 4 inches long, 1 inch wide, and a half-inch thick.

Features

The device doesn’t have any buttons, so it’s draw-activated. Just take a hit, and it turns on. The Levin also operates between 5-30 watts, but since you can’t change the wattage manually, it adjusts automatically based on whatever pod you use in the device. I don’t know what those wattages are, but they feel perfect for each pod.

Pods & Airflow

The pods are top-fill, so to fill them up, pop the cap off the top and fill it up through the little red seal. It’s straightforward to do.

The pods are see-through and sit high enough above the device that you can see how much liquid is still in the pod, so I like that. The pods also use a mesh coil which Smoant says is redesigned to deliver constant flavor and last longer. I can’t argue with that. It seems accurate in my use of their pods. And the flavor is excellent.

They have three pods available for the kit, but it only comes with the 0.6 Ohm pod. They sent me the others to test as well.

  • 0.6 Ohm – This pod produces the most vapor and produces the most flavor of all of the pods
  • 0.8 Ohm – This pod produces less vapor than the 0.8 Ohm pod but it still produces quite a lot. And the flavor seems just as good too.
  • 1.0 Ohm – You’ll get the least amount of vapor in this pod but it’s still very similar to the other two.

The airflow is similar in all pods, but it becomes slightly more restricted as you move from 0.6 to 1.0 Ohm. So if you want more restriction, go for the 1.0 Ohm pod; if you want more, go for the 0.8 or 0.6 Ohm pods.

With the airflow control wide open, you get a lot of airflow. It’s still a restricted mouth-to-lung hit but very close to a lung draw. With the airflow closed all the way down, it’s about as restricted as you could want it. The airflow control is on a slider so that you can set it anywhere between the two extremes. The airflow settings work great.

Battery and Charging

The Levin has a 1000mAh battery which is excellent for a device of this size. That should get you through the day easily. It charges using USB-C at a 5V/1A charge and charges in about 60 minutes.

The LED light also indicates the charge of the battery. Red means it has a 0-30% charge, green is 40-70%, and white is 70-100%.

The device has several safety features:

  • Over-heating protection
  • Low voltage protection
  • Short-circuit protection
  • 8s overtime protection
  • Lithium protection

Final Thoughts

The Levin is a nice pod device. It performs great, the flavor from the pods is excellent, the airflow control works perfectly, and the device is super easy to use. I can’t think of anything to complain about.
